During a recent interaction with reporters, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his sentiments regarding his popularity in Israel, suggesting humorously that he could run for Prime Minister there. His remarks came as he discussed the ongoing tensions with Iran and his views on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Videos shared on social media platform X captured these comments, where Trump complimented Netanyahu, describing him as a “very good man” who would “do whatever I want him to do.”

Trump went on to emphasize his high approval ratings in Israel, claiming, “I’m right now at 99% in Israel. I could run for prime minister.” He further mentioned a poll he had seen that morning, indicating his strong support, and joked about potentially pursuing a political career in Israel after his current role. He also criticized the treatment of Netanyahu by Israel’s leadership, suggesting that he was not being treated fairly and pointing out tension with Israel’s president.

These statements come at a time when Israeli politics is in flux, with lawmakers progressing a bill from Netanyahu’s coalition that may lead to the dissolution of parliament and the possibility of new elections. Trump’s comments on Netanyahu, whom he referred to as a “wartime prime minister,” were part of a broader discussion about the strained dynamics within Israel’s leadership.

Amid these political developments, Trump also addressed the escalating situation with Iran, indicating that the United States was nearing a critical juncture. He stated that the U.S. was “in the final stages of Iran” and that the outcome would either lead to a deal or other unspecified actions. Trump assured that despite the tense situation, he was “in no hurry” to reach a resolution.

Later in the day, Trump reportedly made further claims about the status of Iran’s military capabilities, asserting that the nation’s air force and navy had been significantly weakened. He warned that any future military engagements would become more challenging if an agreement with Tehran was not reached. Despite the tensions, diplomatic negotiations between the U.S. and Iran continue to progress.
